Piacenza and its province are surrounded by mysteries: recently, ghosts were spotted in the capital, the first in Piazza Cavalli, where the witnesses of the apparition, dated 2013, say they saw and even talked to a man dressed in twentieth-century clothes who claimed to be a parliamentarian from Piacenza of the Kingdom of Italy, and during the conversation he disappeared through a wall; in 2014 the ghost of a noblewoman was spotted in the Museum of the Carriages of the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese.
Also in the surroundings of Piacenza there is one of the very rare cases of a church readmitted to the cult of the faithful with the protection of the Knights of the Templars, who in the past suffered the desecration by the Satanists: it is the Church of Campo Santo Vecchio, near which several people were buried during the seventeenth century, who died because of the Black Death; today it has been restored and decorated, but in the past, when it was the site of satanic events, such as crimes and rituals, on its front door was engraved the inscription “666 the devil lives here”.
Other legends and apparitions orbit the castles of Piacenza:
Castello di Agazzano: here the ghost of Count Pier Maria Scotti, also called “Il Buso” for his skills as a swordsman, who “inflicted holes” on the opponent, when he appears shouts and beats chains, who has sighted him has reported his clothing, consisting of armor, leather trousers and helmet with a light blue feather.
Castello di Rivalta: where there are two presences, one of an old owner, Pietro Zanardi Landi, murdered for inheritance reasons, and one of a cook, Giuseppe, killed because of the relationship he had with the wife of the butler; the latter ghost gave Princess Margaret of England a hard time during her stay in the eighties. In addition, Rivalta still houses the ancient Well of Death, where those sentenced to death were executed.
Castello di Gropparello: here the presence is feminine, in particular Rosania Fulgosio, who in 1200 was walled in alive for adultery issues; many people say that the spirit manifests itself in the basement with screams.
Rocca di Grazzano Visconti: here too the presence is feminine, and it is Aloisa, who died of pain and jealousy, after discovering her husband’s betrayal. Its manifestations are aggressive, and it is said that it has even come to slap tourists and the only way to reassure it was to give it flowers. Other testimonies describe it as a good spirit and a protector of lovers.
